Preparation of the roadmap for CCAM in Cyprus

This Tasks consist in a study to facilitate the future adaptation and adoption of automated driving in the TEN-T Core network, with a primary focus on ensuring road safety. This initiative will support the future deployment of C-ITS in Cyprus by addressing the specific road infrastructure needs and safety requirements essential for automated driving.

The study will start by conducting a detailed analysis of the current infrastructure, identifying key areas that require adaptation to support the safe use of automated vehicles. This includes assessing road design, traffic signal systems, signage, and connectivity requirements to create an environment conducive to automated driving. The analysis will also consider unique local conditions in Cyprus, such as road types, urban layouts, and existing traffic patterns.

In parallel, the study will develop a roadmap for infrastructure upgrades that prioritises safety. This roadmap will outline necessary adjustments and propose phased implementations to enhance the readiness of roads for automated vehicles. It will also consider integrating advanced sensor networks and communication systems to support real-time data exchange, essential for safe and efficient automated driving.

By focusing on infrastructure adaptation, this study aligns with broader goals of creating efficient, interconnected, and safe multimodal transport networks. It directly supports Cyprus’ vision of leveraging advanced technologies to enhance transport efficiency, improve road safety, and support the sustainable integration of automated driving systems in urban environments.
