C-ITS Rollout on Urban-to-Interurban Connectors and on Sensitive TEN-T Corridor Bypass Routes

This task encompasses the C-ITS implementation with new RSUs on 9 traffic lights, the upgrade of existing RSUs on 5 traffic lights, and the deployment of a new C-ITS backend for roads leading to highways. All 14 traffic lights will facilitate the "signal phase and timing information" (SPTI) and "green light optimal speed advisory" (GLOSA) services, and at some traffic lights, public transport and emergency vehicle prioritisation (TSP) will be also made available. CITS deployment will take place on important connectors from the TEN-T network to the Urban Nodes of Dresden and Leipzig, as well as on an incident bypass route for a core TEN-T corridor in the Dresden region.

The aforementioned services will initially be available via ETSI ITS G5. At a later stage, the new C-ITS backend will facilitate publication of SPTI and GLOSA information on the NAP, which in turn will enable service providers to distribute such information via applications based on IP based C-ITS communication. Thus, provisions will be made for a hybrid communication approach as defined in COM(2016)766.
