Road network digital model/shadow data collection, quality assurance and management

This Task will develop data flows from road operation and contractor processes to data management systems by utilising automation and digitalisation. These processes include planning, construction, maintenance, repair and data collection using alternative data collection methods such a laser scanning and 360-degree photography. As a prerequisite for development, we need to study and develop methods that can efficiently analyse roadway assets from point cloud data and images using artificial intelligence and other technologies. These improvements will ensure more accurate, up to date and reliable data in data management systems, resulting in more effective ITS, C-ITS, CCAM and other road network operation services.

KPIs: The deployment likely includes three systems: 1) the Inframaatti system to convert IFC data into a form accepted by transport infrastructure data management systems, 2 ) the Requirement data base to specify harmonised digital and machine readable data requirements for various use cases, and 3) the expert support service to provide hints, instructions as well as search and display tools for the various transport infrastructure operation data sources enabling e.g. quality improvement via comparison of image and point cloud data with transport infrastructure management systems. The deployment covers the whole Finnish highway network including the TEN-T roads as its core.

Type of implementation: completely new development.
