Cyprus’ ITS Directive: A Roadmap for Future-Ready Transport Systems

This Task consist in a study to implement ITS in accordance with the revised ITS Directive (EU) 2023/2661. The study will start with stakeholder engagement to ensure collaboration among government agencies, local authorities, and technology providers. A regulatory framework will be then established to ensure compliance with both local and international laws, such as the ITS Directive and its related Delegated Regulations. The study will identify possible needs for improvements of ITS implementation in the Cyprus TEN-T Core Network and possible upgrades to the ITS infrastructure, while data management and security are prioritised to ensure interoperability and robust cybersecurity.

Public awareness campaigns will help communicate to related stakeholders the future tasks that Cyprus aims through the roadmap. Testing phases will assess ITS functionality, while also providing key input for the definition of the ITS Roadmap for Cyprus. Any implementation of possible upgrades that may take place, fall outside of the scope of this Task, however, they will be used to update the roadmap timeline, if done within the timeframe of the project.

KPIs: Alignment between the ITS Directive and ITS national implementation in Cyprus (creation of roadmap) until 2030. Assessment for the possible upgrade of the ITS infrastructure of around 90% coverage of the TEN-T Core Network.

Type of implementation: Study for future implementations.
