Real-time AI-based traffic monitoring platform and predictive analytics

This Task consists of setting up a platform that collects data from existing equipment interfaced with the traffic control centre to improve the efficiency and safety of road traffic, reducing inconvenience for users and the environmental impact caused by traffic jams and delays.

The Task will be dedicated to implement a real-time traffic monitoring system, to develop predictive analysis models to anticipate traffic peaks.

The Task involves using existing sensors and monitoring tools (not funded by VERKKO) for real-time traffic data collection and analysis, providing an up-to-date view of traffic conditions. Advanced AI models developed in the frame of this Task will predict traffic peaks, allowing for proactive identification of congestion and slowdowns, enabling timely interventions. By optimising vehicle flows using predictive data, the Task aims to reduce waiting times and optimise traffic flow, resulting in smarter, more proactive traffic management to ensure a smoother and safer travel experience, to improve the quality of service, and to reduce the likelihood of congestions.
