High speed Weigh in Motion (WIM)

In the frame of this Task Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) will have weigh-in-motion (WIM) sensors installed, operated and managed at ten sites on the national road network. The project is intended to provide TII a reliable stream of high-quality data on the weights of vehicles operating on the national road network. This data will enable TII to manage the operation and maintenance of the national road network in a more informed manner.

This Task will be dedicated to increase the profile of IE_TII’s WIM activities and increase data use through greater dissemination of traffic loading data both within IE_TII and externally and provide information to relevant authorities to help them understand levels of overloading on the national road network.

KPIs: Minimum 10 sites across the TEN-T comprehensive network will be identified and investigated for suitability.

Type of implementation: Upgrade of 10 existing WIM sites.
