Optimization and improvement of winter maintenance activities

This Task is dedicated to the installation of an Assist system enabling the targeted management of materials, resources and personnel in carrying out winter service.

Autostrada del Brennero will equip its machines for the treatment of the road surface with salt products and the cleaning of the same by means of snowploughs with an advanced control system (Assist system) capable of interacting on all parameters such as dosage, width and spreading asymmetry as well as the spreading of liquid salt during cleaning operations thanks to the use of blades with specific injectors, as well as the lightening of the same when approaching joints of viaducts and the automatic variation of geometry.

With the Assist system the driver will not have to intervene manually, as everything will be managed remotely. Blade movements will be minutely controlled by the Assist system according to the geometry and characteristics of the road, road conditions and possibly local weather forecasts.

In the frame of this Task, this system, once operational, will be also integrated into our C-ITS infrastructure, by equipping winter maintenance vehicles with dedicated mobile RSUs.

KPIs: Installation of the Assist system on at least 60 salt spreaders, 200 snow ploughs, 1 cutter, 6 Vaisala weather sensors. Deployment of at least 10 RSUs.

Type of implementation: Additional system (connected Assist system and RSUs) to upgrade the existing equipment.
