Digitising & exchanging data of urban vehicle access regulations

Amsterdam has developed a system for managing its UVAR’s and other traffic violations. No other city in the Netherlands has such a complete solution. This system features the complete chain from recognising numberplates, connection to the Dutch license plate database, connecting to the public prosecutor's office, exemptions and collection of fines through the Dutch central judicial collection agency. New areas and use cases (any vehicle attribute in the license plate database) can easily be added. Amsterdam will continue to roll out this system across the city in the coming years for the purpose of enforcing other undesirable traffic flows, such as unnecessary taxicab movements. Within this Task, the city will roll out the necessary infrastructural hardware (mainly fibre optic cables and system upgrades) for real-time management of the UVAR, including the virtual queue for taxis.

KPIs: Infrastructure: Around 40 cameras connected to fibre optic cable within the inner city (within the S100 inner city ring road). System upgrade: Amsterdam will continue to develop the system for managing UVARs adding new functionalities (at least one).

Type of implementation: This is both an upgrade and an addition to existing systems. Cables will be added to an excising infrastructure.
